The Games to watch

Cork City FC 0-1 Legia Warsaw

UEFA Champions League 1st qualifying round

UEFA Champions League has started pretty well for Legia Warsaw ! In the first qualifying round, the Polish team has beaten Cork City away thanks to a beautiful shot from Michal Kucharczyk after a combination on a free kick (see the goal below). Legia is now in a great position before the 2nd leg which will be played in Warsaw on 17 July. But the Ireland reigning champion still has some hopes to make it. The winner of this encounter will qualify for the second qualifying round happening end of July.

Malaysia U-16 0-2 Korea Republic U-16

International friendly

Quite logically, Korea Republic won against Malaysia in this preparation game for the AFC U-16 championship happening in Malaysia later this year. One of the main powerhouse in Asia, Korea dominated the game, scoring their first goal at the end of the first half. Choi Kangmin slalomed into the Malaysian defense before finishing the job with a clever shot (see goal below). The Malaysian tried their luck in the second part, but the Taeguk Warriors doubled the score on a penalty two minutes before the final whistle.

Sri Lanka 0-2 Lithuania

International friendly

After a good 0-0 draw in their first international match since November 2016, Sri Lanka was hoping to do even better for the second round against Lithuania. But the Europeans showed their strength and dominated the game. They scored a first goal after half an hour (see the goal below) and then doubled the score after an hour to ease the end of the game. There is still a lot of work for the Lankans to be ready for the SAFF Suzuki Cup 2018, due to take place in Bangladesh in September.

Duluth FC vs Grand Rapids FC

NPSL Midwest Region Quarterfinal

Incredible game in the Midwest for the quarter finals of NPSL. Duluth FC, 2nd in the North Conference Division, started the game better, being 2-0 up after 52 minutes. But Grand Rapids FC fought until the very end, back on the scoreboard at 82' and then 92' minutes ! No goals in extra time and after a terrific PSO (see below), Duluth FC finally got the victory. But what a game!
